Business Testimonials
Date 6th June 2007
Business: Passionate About Cakes
Managing Director: Natasha Harris
I always had a vision of running my own business. I had the incentive but I didn't know how to go about it.
After seeing their advertisement on a local bus, I booked an appointment with SACDA to see how I needed to go about things. I took the advice I received, went to college and gained all my qualifications.
I received a lot of help and support. I went to seminars and started to build my business plan.
The journey was very challenging and a big learning curve. You have to keep focused during whatever life throws at you. In business you have to have a strong will and work hard.
All I know is that I wouldn't have got where I am today if SACDA did not help me. They helped me with my vision and brought it to realisation. Now 'Passionate About Cakes' is on the move.
Thank you SACDA with all the help and support.

Business: Stationary Express
Managing Director:Andy Wynter
Manager:Kay Riggs
The company - the brain-child of Andy Wynter and step-daughter Kay Riggs - has grown from its initial store in Wolverhampton's Wulfrun Shopping Centre to a second site in Halesowen and now has a turnover in excess of £200,000.
Backed by support from R2I and SACDA, the pair successfully secured a private sector loan to help with the start-up process and immediately looked at tergeting the student and 'moms and toddlers' market place.
It has proved a successful approach with Stationary Express now targeting the possibility of launching a new website and opening a third store in Northfield, in Birmingham.
Andy added: ''Since gaining the additional funding we have not looked back and are now competing with more established retail names in our area. We've tried to be a little bit different and people seem to be enjoying the alternative.''

10 YEARS IN BUSINESS
March 2004 marked the 10th anniversary of SACDA. Embarking on the journey of starting and developing the Agency has not been easy. The fact that the organisation still exists despite great concerns being expressed about its survival is a testimony of the hard work, commitment, dedication and sacrifice made over the last 10 years by the Boards of Directors, the Chief Executive and the staff, past and present.
Over the past 10 years SACDA has developed from an organisation with a very uncertain future in 1994/95 to an organisation that is now recognised nationally for the key role it plays regarding training, employment and enterprise in Sandwell.
